What personal data we hold, why, and your rights over it.

This explains what personal data we hold about you, why, and what you can do about it. We are the data controller. Contact: help@doublecarpet.com.
Because you give it to us: your name, your email address, and a password (which we never store — see below).
Because you use the site: the date and time you log in, the IP address and browser you logged in from, which version of our terms you accepted and when, and basic technical logs.
We do not collect payment details, because the site is free during testing. We do not ask for your date of birth beyond your confirmation that you are 18 or over. We do not collect special category data.
We never store your password. We store a one-way cryptographic hash of it, produced with scrypt and a random per-user salt. We cannot read it, recover it, or tell you what it is. If you forget it you must reset it.

Nobody, other than the hosting provider that runs our server. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not pass it to bookmakers.
The site displays racing data from third-party suppliers, but that flows one way — we do not send them anything about you.
On a server in Germany, operated by Hetzner Online GmbH, inside the European Economic Area.
For as long as your account is open, and for up to 12 months afterwards so that we have a record of the terms you accepted and of any security incident. Technical logs are kept for a shorter period.
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable form. Where we rely on legitimate interests you can object and we will stop unless we have compelling grounds not to.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or call 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
The site produces ratings and predictions about horses, not about you. We do not profile you and we make no automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
If we change this policy materially we will publish a new version and tell you.
